Landing Plane Nearly Hits Tourist

Forget landing gear, this lucky tourist almost found out the meaning of landing ear when a plane skimmed the top of his head while taking a photo. As the light aircraft came in to the Gustaf III Airport in St Barts, one photographer tried to capture an once-in-a-lifetime image. Plane spotter Sébastien Politano caught the incredible scene at what is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world, renowned for its difficult landing strip. The photographer in the white t-shirt was crouched and primed with his camera when the aircraft approached the Caribbean runway.

The unnamed snapper is seen trying to line up the perfect shot of a light aircraft coming in to land at Gustaff III airport on the island of St Bart's, in the Carribbean. Despite its idyllic backdrop, the airport is something of a nightmare for pilots, who have to negotiate a road on top of a steep hill before dropping onto the short runway.
