What did we learn from the Devasting Earthquake in Nepal

A year on from the earthquake that killed 9,000 people, many of those who lost their homes are still living in tents and under tarps. But the earthquake proved to be just the first in a string of natural and man-made crises that shook the impoverished nation in 2015. The political disasters that followed the earthquake compounded an already dire situation. In the months after the earthquake, rather than turning all its attention to reconstruction, the Government's biggest priority was pushing through a new and controversial constitution, which was criticised for its treatment of ethnic minorities and women. This led to violent and deadly protests on the country's southern border with India, and a devastating transport blockade with Nepal's powerful neighbor
