The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has asked the government to summon parliament session at the earliest.A joint meeting of NC central working committee and parliamentary party held at parliament building at New Baneshwar on Monday decided to pressure the government to summon House session, which remains prorogued for the past two months.The government had prorogued House session on February 18, a day before the India visit by Prime Minister K P Oli.”Talks with the agitating Madhesi parties is in limbo, constitution implementation and post-quake reconstruction works are getting nowhere, and black-marketing and inflation is spiralling,” NC lawmaker Ram Krishna Yadav said. “Our party urges the government to summon the House session to discuss all these issues.

”The informal meeting was chaired by NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel as party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was about to leave for New Delhi on the same day, was absent.NC lawmakers have also demanded the government to extend the deadline for recommending development projects, in their respective districts for inclusion in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget by 12 days. They demanded the extension of deadline arguing that they could not recommend projects as they remained busy in the party general convention last month.
