Bagmati cleaning campaign 150 weeks

The Bagmati River runs through the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal and separates Kathmandu from Patan. It is considered holy by both Hindus and Buddhists. A number of Hindu temples are located on its banks.
Bagmati Clean-up Campaign celebrates its 150th week on Friday. Launched in 2013, the weekly clean-up drive has improved the condition of Bagmati and its surroundings. “The support is just overwhelming,” said Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal, a key leader of the campaign. “It’s the public realisation about their responsibility towards their environment that made this campaign successful.”
